Our Core Safety Promise

AppsOrGames was built for users who want the same APK that the developer published — nothing more, nothing less. We do not host modded, cracked, or “premium unlocked” versions. Every file on the site is the original package signed by the legitimate developer.

1. Original Developer Signatures Only

Every APK is cryptographically signed by the developer. Before a file is published we extract and store the certificate fingerprint (SHA-1 / SHA-256). When a new version appears we re-verify that the signature matches the previous official version. Any mismatch results in automatic rejection.

This is the same verification principle used by Google Play Protect. It guarantees the binary you download has not been tampered with after the developer signed it.

2. Multi-Layer Malware Scanning

  • All APKs are submitted to VirusTotal (70+ antivirus engines) before being made available.
  • Additional internal static analysis checks for known malicious patterns, suspicious permissions combinations, and unexpected native libraries.
  • If any engine flags a file, it is held for manual review and is not published until the issue is resolved or confirmed as a false positive.

3. Strict “No Mods” Policy

We never re-sign, inject ads, remove licensing checks, or otherwise alter an APK. Modded packages are the single largest source of malware in third-party stores. By refusing them entirely we eliminate an entire class of risk.

4. Human Review Layer

Automated tools catch the majority of problems, but every new package also passes a short manual checklist:

  • Package name and version match the official listing
  • Icon, screenshots and description are consistent with the real app
  • No unexpected permissions or trackers beyond what the official version declares
  • Publisher information is verified where possible

5. What You Can Do for Maximum Safety

  1. Keep Google Play Protect enabled. It will still scan sideloaded APKs at install time.
  2. Compare the package name (e.g. com.example.app) with the official Google Play listing before installing.
  3. After download you can optionally upload the APK to VirusTotal yourself for an independent second opinion.
  4. Only enable “Install from unknown sources” for the browser or file manager you are using, then turn it off again.
  5. Prefer the latest version unless you specifically need an older one for compatibility reasons.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do some antivirus apps still flag APKs from AppsOrGames?

Heuristic engines occasionally flag legitimate apps that use advanced protection (anti-tamper, root detection, etc.). Because we only host original developer-signed packages, these are almost always false positives. You can cross-check the same version on Google Play or VirusTotal.

Do you host older versions of apps?

Yes. Older versions are useful when a new release breaks compatibility or removes features. Every historical version still goes through the same signature and malware checks.

Is AppsOrGames affiliated with Google or the original developers?

No. We are an independent archive of publicly available APK files. We do not claim any official partnership unless explicitly stated on an individual app page.
